Special programs to assist minorities seeking employment
One of the Career Advisors in the GW Law Career Center also leads a portfolio of work related to diversity and inclusion at the law school. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: working closely with students who self-identify as diverse, student and alumni affinity groups, and employers; organizing events that foster a sense of community within the law school, such as a diversity welcome reception at the beginning of the school year; partnership with student affinity groups to coordinate programs, such as an annual diversity networking reception co-sponsored with Lambda Law and the Law Association for Women's annual Women in the Round event; managing a diversity and inclusion section on the Career Center website; and administering a diversity mailing list so that interested students can receive information about opportunities, events, and resources. The law school is also part of the DC Diversity Consortium, a recently formed partnership between four, DC-area law schools, and GW Law hosted this year's DC Diversity Consortium 1L Diversity Fair. The law school also participates in a variety of programs, receptions, and job fairs designed to advance diversity and inclusion in the legal profession.
