send, upon request, one package containing resumes/transcripts? Yes
post a notice directing students to apply directly to employer? Yes

If you provide job listings for graduates, describe how to send notice, when employers can expect responses, length of time notice is posted (whether in print or online), etc.
We post positions for graduates on our Symplicity site and send highlighted opportunities out via newsletters and direct message. The graduates follow application instructions set forth by the employer.

FIRST-YEAR STUDENT Describe any special regulations pertaining to the recruitment of first year students. For example, are first year students eligible for spring OCI? When are job notices posted during second semester?
The law school supports any guidance that NALP may provide regarding recruitment of first-year law students. Outside of this guidance, the law school traditionally opens positions to first years in Symplicity after their mandatory first year meeting. First year students are invited to participate in spring OCI and other off campus spring semester recruiting programs such as the Public Service Recruitment Fair (PSRF) and Patent Law event.

Recruiting policy comments/explanation Summer Associate Recruiting Programs The law school offered three formal recruiting programs for the 2021-2022 academic year: Fall OCI, the Patent Law Interview Program (PLIP), and the Public Service Recruitment Fair (PSRF). Fall OCI was hosted virtually by the law school in 2020 and 2021. PLIP and PSRF are events held in partnership with other area law schools. PLIP was held virtually during the summer of 2020 and PSRF was held virtually during the Spring 2021 semester. Employers were able to participate in Fall OCI in various ways at no cost to the employer. Rachel Lawrence, Assistant Director for Legal Recruitment for OCPD, is available to discuss specifics with employers. To contact Rachel please email [email protected] OCPD works with recruiters and students to schedule interviews and manage program logistics, unless an employer requests to manage the logistics. Interviews for Fall OCI begin on August 1, 2022. Employers may not prescreen students nor may they request transcripts or other information from students prior to the on-campus interview. CUA Law asks that employers register for OCI either through the law school’s employer portal in Symplicity or by emailing [email protected] For questions regarding the On-Campus Interview program, please email [email protected] Timing of Offers Any offer received by a CUA law student should remain open for 21 days unless a shorter period was expressly communicated to the student at the time of the offer. Early offers should remain open for 21 days from the first day of Spring On-Campus Interviews. Students are only permitted to keep open 3 offers. If a student receives a 4th offer, they must release one of the offers within 3 business days. OCPD requires students to keep employers informed regarding the students’ consideration of offers. OCPD encourages employers to grant reasonable requests for extensions. OCPD’s goal is to promote appropriate matches between employers and students that result in productive professional relationships. Compensation, Volunteer Requirements, and Academic Credit OCPD expects all employers to abide by industry standards as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding employment and wages. For-profit employers who hire for volunteer positions must familiarize themselves with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Fact Sheet #71. The Law School’s policies do not permit students to earn academic credit for paid work. For FAQs and information on the Extern Supervisor Agreement, as well as other resources for employers, please email [email protected] For employers who have questions regarding participating in the externship program, please email [email protected]
